More about William Vanscoy:
Emulating the work of world famous photographers Ansell Adams and Edward Weston, William Vanscoy landscapes, particularly of the coast could sit quite happily next these iconic American pioneers of photography. William changed to Large Format View cameras to help realise his new approach and vision of photography. Influenced by Cartier-Bresson, William’s work is in the finest tradition of fine art photography despite the fact that he works with digital equipment and makes use of post-production techniques; his photographs have a classically authentic feel. William’s seascapes are tranquil, mysterious and evocative and show a real eye for presenting the scene, but also implying a lot more through their composition. Where The Angels Hide is an enchanting and fantastical coastal composition utilising subtle hues with a whisper of mist covering the scene. William often uses layering of multiple photographs to create his images and here we can see this to great effect with the apparent mist surrounding the rocks and outcrops.
Post production is a signature element and embellished editions are spectacular Post-production is something that William Vanscoy would have been used to using as a commercial photographer and can put to great use in his own fine art work. Cloud formations sweep across the sky with brush-like precision, waters ripple to the edge of the frame and the dusky light of the sun bathes the whole scene. Refraction of the image and saturation of colours enhance the ethereal nature of his seascapes and the muted tones of his Venetian photographs create a sense of nostalgia and older photographic traditions. To add even greater depth to his work, many of William’s prints are available as special embellishments with elements of the photograph printed on glass to enhance the immersive nature of his compositions. There are a number of William Vanscoy wonderful photographs available here in varying sizes and formats, these emotionally charged and beautifully presented images would be a great addition to any space.
